A Letter to a Father about Sleep

Did you know that covenants can and are being made in your sleep?. So the word of God says in the book of Hosea chapter 4 verse 6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
It is my desire for you to acquire the knowledge needed to advance in every area of your life. God is speaking to us through dreams and visions, and what the enemy is doing is distracting many of us or just erasing dreams from memory. When I say erasing dreams from memory, people wake up not even recalling that they had a dream or remembered they had a dream but can’t remember the details. Allow me to inform you the enemy knows the answers are in the detail of the dreams and visions that you are having. I would like for you to read Genesis chapter 15 with me; it reads:
After these things, the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. 2 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? 3 And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. 4 And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. 5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. 6 And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. 7 And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. 8 And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? 9 And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon. 10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. 11 And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away. 12 And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. 13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. 15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. 16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. 17 And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. 18 In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

After reading chapter 15 of Genesis, I want you to pay attention to verse 1. Verse 1 reads, After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. What I want you to see is this God came to Abram in a vision to tell him that you are going to have an heir and not just that but just as numerous as the stars, so shall thy seed be as we continue to read a little further. In this vision that Abram had, God told Abram instructions that he was to follow, and when Abram did what God spoke through a vision, Abram fell into a deep sleep as God began to reveal more.
Ladies and gentlemen, what I want you to understand is this. You can no longer overlook your dreams because God is speaking. Another thing you must know is that the enemy is trying to establish covenants in your dreams because the enemy doesn’t want you to have the answer to that problem you’ve been praying about. The enemy doesn’t want you to remember that dream, or better yet, the enemy doesn’t want you to renounce that bad dream. The enemy wants you to walk around afraid and worried but no more. So when you have a dream, here is a simple prayer that you can pray. Father God, in the name of Jesus, I can’t remember the dream I had last night or this morning. Still, if it is not of you, God, then I renounce it, I divorce it from my life and the life of all who the dream is about, and I ask you to forgive me for whatever evil covenant established in my dreams. In the name of Jesus, God, if the dream that I had is from you, I come in covenant with that dream because you know the plans you have for me, plans of good and not evil. Amen.
I ask you to please pray this prayer when you have dreams and ask God to reveal things to you and help you.
This next chapter that we will review is in the book of Genesis chapter 20.
Genesis chapter 20 reads:

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. 4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? 5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. 6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine. 8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done. 10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing? 11 And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake. 12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my Father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my Father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother. 14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 15 And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee. 16 And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved. 17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. 18 For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.
I pray that you gather out of reading in chapter 20 of Genesis that just like God spoke to Abimelech in his dream and a covenant was made, the enemy is doing the same thing. How do I know a covenant was made with Abimelech because God told Abimelech that if you don’t give him back his wife, you and everything that is yours will surely die because of verse 18. Verse 18 reads For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife. Abimelech was sleeping next to the woman he believed was Abraham’s sister. I pray you gather that your body is resting at night, but your spirit never sleeps. God is spirit, and you are spirit wrapped in flesh, and God speaks to our spirit. Just like God can make a covenant with us, the enemy can too, but we can destroy the evil covenants through prayer and fasting.

  1. There is something to remember – they did not have the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament and we do now – new tiles and so when we reflect back on some OT passages – not all of it implies how god reaches us today – because we have the inside presence of the Holy Spirit
God with us and god in us!

    1. Yes although they did not have the Holy Spirit in that time the message is God speaks to us in dreams and visions. God still speaks to us through dreams and visions.

      1. Yes – he can even use a donkey to speak to a human! You are so right because he had many ways of communicating with us – I just see so many people refer to OT passages that need to be considered for pre Holy Spirit day vs now where we have this gift of counselor and comforter
