A Letter to a Father about Religious Leaders

This letter that I am about to share is stern, but I must share this letter. I am going to be sharing from the book of Matthew chapter 23. When I read Matthew chapter 23, I was like, Lord, please forgive me if I have done any of this; I kept on reading, and after reading Matthew chapter 23 then rereading it, I began to get the revelation.

In Matthew chapter 23 verses 1-7 it reads: Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

In verses 1-7, Jesus is telling his disciples and the people to listen to what the scribes and Pharisees tell you because they are great teachers of the law of Moses but don’t follow the way that they live because of what they teach and how they live are two different ways. Also, Jesus is telling the people that these religious leaders are after fame and status. Some leaders are preaching one thing to the people but living a whole different lifestyle. God is about to expose those leaders. As I write this letter to you, I will say this is a very disappointing letter because people desire the absolute word of God, and that is what God wants, and that is for us to know him. Still, some leaders are and have turned people away from God through their behavior.

In verses 8-11 in Matthew Chapter 23, it reads; But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your Father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

Now what I’m about to say may ruffle some feathers, but this whole spiritual Father and spiritual mother is not of God. In Matthew chapter 23, verses 8-11, Jesus is saying, look, stop putting these people on pedestals and don’t allow anyone to put you on a pedestal but instead serve others. Jesus is telling us that we are all students, and there is one teacher Jesus Christ if you want to be a great serve.

Verses 12-22 reads; And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Now verses 12-22 are sad, but it is currently going on in many churches today. God is not pleased with the things going on in the church, and the compromising has to stop because there are people hungry for the actual word of God and need solutions to problems, and the leaders are failing by the droves.

Now back to the letter in verses 12 -22, Jesus is saying to the people you must humble yourself to be exalted so some leaders lack humility, but God will humble them. Also, some leaders shut off the kingdom of heaven in front of people, nor do they enter themselves. The leaders don’t allow the people that are in the process of entering to do so. Another thing is instead helping the poor and widows they take from them. Religious leaders go from country to country, recruiting converts but turning them into twice as much worse after converting the followers.
Jesus wants the church to delight in God’s laws, precepts, and ordinance because it would lead to a life of fulfillment and peace in Jesus Christ.

I suggest that you read the entire chapter 23 of Matthew; it will give you insight into why God is so upset with some leaders today. People are more concerned about the gift than the people themselves. People are more concerned about what they want from God, not God himself, and like it said in Matthew chapter 23 verse 19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?

As believers of Jesus Christ, we need to seek the Kingdom of God and study the word of God (bible). I would suggest that you begin to read the word of God more. As I end this letter, I am going to share something with you that I was reminded of when I read Matthew chapter 24 verse 14: “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Verse 14 of Matthew chapter 24 says this gospel and what gospel is it? The gospel of the KINGDOM SHALL be preached not prosperity, not peace, not any other gospel but the gospel of the KINGDOM then SHALL the end come. So this tells us that when the gospel of the KINGDOM is preached in ALL the world, then the end will come. So do you now understand the importance of reading the word of God? I pray we know the importance of not getting in the way of the people trying to enter into the kingdom of heaven. I pray as you have read the letter that you have a strong desire to read and study the word of God and ask God to reveal himself to you through the word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
