A Letter about the reason why God wants us to know him

This letter that I am writing today comes from, I would say about a week of being in my spirit so heavy and beginning the letter but then walking away from the letter because I was distracted and consumed with so many other things that it was a mental fight to just read the bible. Today I yielded and just ask God to lead me. I was reading the books of First Peter and Second Peter a couple of weeks ago but for some reason, I was drawn to just read it again about a week later. As I begin to read the second chapter of peter the presence of God was so strong all I could do was cry it was as though he was changing me in that very moment. There are no words to explain what I felt but I could not contain what I was feeling every time I would read the word I would cry and worship God.

The scriptures that I am referring to is second Peter chapter 1 verses 1-9:

1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle (special messenger) of Jesus Christ, to those who have received (obtained an equal privilege of) like precious faith with ourselves in and through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: 2 May grace (God’s favor) and peace (which is [a]perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and [b]freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, [c]precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [[d]full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue). 4 By means of these He has bestowed on us His precious and exceedingly great promises, so that through them you may escape [by flight] from the moral decay (rottenness and corruption) that is in the world because of covetousness (lust and greed), and become sharers (partakers) of the divine nature. 5 For this very reason, [e]adding your diligence [to the divine promises], employ every effort in [f]exercising your faith to develop virtue (excellence, resolution, Christian energy), and in [exercising] virtue [develop] knowledge (intelligence), 6 And in [exercising] knowledge [develop] self-control, and in [exercising] self-control [develop] steadfastness (patience, endurance), and in [exercising] steadfastness [develop] godliness (piety), 7 And in [exercising] godliness [develop] brotherly affection, and in [exercising] brotherly affection [develop] Christian love. 8 For as these qualities are yours and increasingly abound in you, they will keep [you] from being idle or unfruitful unto the [[g]full personal] knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). 9 For whoever lacks these qualities is blind, [[h]spiritually] shortsighted, [i]seeing only what is near to him, and has become oblivious [to the fact] that he was cleansed from his old sins.

First, I would like for you to know that when a word is released and by word released, I mean anytime you are compelled to write about or read the bible or someone speaks the word of God, you need to know that God wants you to know him. Allow me to give you a quick example it’s like you receive a phone call about some information that you have been wanting to know or someone calls you and either gives you what you need or leads you to the place where you can get the provision. You must know that the letters that I write are not from me. I couldn’t do this in my strength. The letters that I write are spirit-led. My confidence is in God and apart from Him I am nothing and I will fail.

In second Peter chapter one verses one through nine Peter is telling the people that hey we all share in the same valuable faith it’s not just faith that we have but it is a valuable faith. This alone is something mind-blowing because what do you do when you have something of value? When you have something of value you just don’t let anyone around it you wouldn’t just leave it so that anyone or anything can have access to it. We must understand that we have Valuable Faith. Also, you must know that there is nothing you nor I did to obtain this valuable faith it was given as a gift from God when we received his son Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Peter goes on and says Grace and Peace be multiplied unto you because you know the Lord. This sits so heavy in me because this is something that oftentimes believers don’t walk in nor understand how to obtain the multiplication of Grace and Peace. The answer is in what Peter said in the word of God and it says because you KNOW the Lord. It is imperative that you know the Lord through prayer and reading the bible and just receiving the promise of Grace and Peace as you do these things. The word of God says in Hosea 4:6 my people perish for lack of KNOWledge. I am writing and just pleading to you that you MUST know God don’t read the bible just because I’m pleading with you but read because God wants you to know him. The creator wants you to know him.

The reason God wants you to know him because in his son Jesus is the power of God and once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord (owner) you have the power of the living God inside of you. Now when I say you have the power of the living God inside of you, I am saying you have the spirit of God living inside of you. Allow me to go further it’s like a child being born and as that child grows and matures physically the parents notices some of the behaviors and mannerisms that they have currently being displayed through the child. The behaviors and mannerisms may be good or bad but if they are bad, the majority of the time the parents would guide the child in the right direction to correct the bad behavior and teach a better way to handle the behavior. This is also what the word of God does to you. The word of God guides you as you read it and meditate on it and God reveals his ways to you that are not like the ways of the world and you become like him and most of all you get to know him.

The book of Peter is a great book to read as a matter of fact after you read this letter please go read First Peter and Second Peter you will find it to be very beneficial to your life. The verses I would like to emphasize are 2 Peter chapter 1 verses 5-9.

Peter is saying to the people that because you have the power of God living inside you do your best to grow and mature by adding to your faith, goodness, to your goodness add knowledge (intelligence), to your knowledge add self-control (temperance), to your self-control add patience, to your patience add devotion to God, to your devotion to God add kindness to others and kindness add love.

After reading verses 5-7 I must give you verse 8 in the Amplified version of the bible because it is just self-explanatory and when I read this, I said God I must know you because I want your attributes your behaviors your mannerisms to manifest in the natural in my life, not only the things of God but the character of God to shine so brightly for the world to see. Verse 8 reads: For as these qualities are yours and are increasing [in you as you grow toward spiritual maturity], they will keep you from being useless and unproductive in regard to the true knowledge and greater understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As you continue to read in the book of second Peter you will understand why others don’t grow and mature in the qualities and blessings because it states in verse nine that they are spiritually blind and can’t see what they have. Also, they have forgotten that they have been cleansed from their past sins. Now when I read this, I’m like God explain this to me and what came to me was these people don’t mature and grow in the blessings and qualities of God because when interacting with others in whatever state the interaction is good or bad they forget that I forgave them of the same thing that they aren’t willing to forgive others for, or they have forgotten the grace I have given them for the sins that they committed. I didn’t judge them my word judge them but when they repented and ask for forgiveness I did and they received my forgiveness and I cleansed them from all unrighteousness. They forgot about it so that’s why they aren’t walking in my character and ways.

In concluding this letter, I leave you with 2 Peter chapter 1 verse 10 it reads: Therefore, believers, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you [be sure that your behavior reflects and confirms your relationship with God]; for by [a]doing these things [actively developing these virtues], you will never stumble [in your spiritual growth and will live a life that leads others away from sin]

We must know God. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying Know God Know Peace but to really Know God is Peace Multiplied. The end goal is to win souls and the scriptures say: The fruit of the [uncompromisingly] righteous is a tree of life, and he who is wise captures human lives [for God, as a fisher of men—he gathers and receives them for eternity]. -Proverbs 11:30 Let’s operate in the wisdom of God.

Prayer,

Father God in the name of Jesus I love you for the many gifts you have given us for your glory. God create in us a clean heart and daily renew our mind in your ways, precepts, laws. God, we repent for forgetting that you died for our sins so we have mistreated others or didn’t handle them with the love, care, and concern that you have handled us. Father forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness and God we receive your forgiveness and cleansing in Jesus’ name. God give us The Kingdom of God mindset. Father let your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven in every area of our lives in the land of the living so that we may win souls to you. God, we allow your spirit to lead us and guide us and operate in our lives so that the light of God and your love may shine through us, in us and to us but for your glory. In the mighty name of Yahweh, we place our faith in you we believe you have already answered our prayers we believe you that’s why we are praying to you. You are our source and it is you who sustains us. God thank you for your protection God thank you for your hedge of protection around us every day God dispatch your angels around us to keep us in all our ways. God, we turn our face like flint to you. God thank you for answering our prayers, thank you because it is your word that we are standing on that says you will do exceedingly and abundantly above all we think or ask God we say thank you. God your word will not return to you void but it will accomplish the very thing that you sent it out to do and we thank you. In the name of Yahweh. Amen.
