As I write this letter to you, I must admit I was a bit distracted by life and irritated. I was distracted because I had other things that needed my attention, but they could have waited. I was irritated because I wanted people to see what was going on in the world, but it seemed like everywhere I turned, people could not see or understand. Now that I am writing to you, this is full proof that I did not understand what God was prompting me to do, and that was to write and get it out. Write it so you will no longer be irritated.
On May 27th, 2020. I was led to read the book of Esther. I remember just sitting and reading and wondering God, why am I reading this? Also, thinking to myself well, I guess God has something that he wants me to see. I read Esther Chapter 2-10, and I marked it in my bible with the date and highlighted every chapter that I had read. It was the day after the riot started in Minneapolis. I called my sister and began speaking to her about things that were happening in our lives. When my sister and I got on the subject of the riots, the revelation hit me. I said to her, “we need to pray as Esther and Mordecai prayed for all the Jews.” Even then, I went into prayer with my sister for our nation. After the prayer, I was still a bit irritated but never understood why so I brushed it off.
Today I am writing because I know what the “Irritating” feeling was prompting me to stop being distracting so God can reveal some things to you. The first thing that was revealed to me immediately was, the Spirit of prejudice and injustice has been around for many years. For example, in the book of Esther, Haman hated Mordecai so much that he wanted to kill Mordecai and ALL of the Jews (Esther Chapter 3). The second thing that was brought to my attention was the strategy used to fight against that Spirit that prompted Haman to plot an awful idea.
In Esther chapter 4 verses 13-17 reads: 13 Then Mordecai told them to return this answer to Esther, Do not flatter yourself that you shall escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance shall arise for the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows but that you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this and for this very occasion? 15 Then Esther told them to give this answer to Mordecai, 16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast for me; and neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. I also and my maids will fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law; and if I perish, I perish. 17 So Mordecai went away and did all that Esther had commanded him.
The strategy used to defeat the enemy was fasting and prayer. The current state of our nation needs people to fast and pray. Our current situation is not a physical war; it is a spiritual war, and battles are won, and strategies are given when we seek God for solutions. As you read the book of Esther, you will see how Haman and his whole house were defeated. Also, if you read even further, you will see that they defeated their enemy and rewrote the laws to benefit the people.
What I want you to see is the power of prayer and fasting. In the book of Esther, God is giving us a strategy to fight against prejudice and injustice. If what I have written is not enough, then please allow me to provide you with more scriptures. The first scriptures I am going to give you are found in 2 Corinthians chapter 10 verses 3-8: 3 We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 [a]We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. 5 We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. 6, And after you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient. 7 Look at the obvious facts. [b] Those who say they belong to Christ must recognize that we belong to Christ as much as they do. 8 I may seem to be boasting too much about the authority given to us by the Lord. But our authority builds you up; it doesn’t tear you down. So, I will not be ashamed of using my authority.
In 2 Corinthians verses 3-8, Paul was defending is authority while writing a letter to the people in Corinth. Paul was saying hey, we don’t fight in the natural; we fight in the Spirit. Also, Paul was saying when we fight in the Spirit realm, we win. Another thing Paul was trying to get the church to see is this when we are fully obedient, then we can fight against those spirits that are being disobedient.
Allow me to go further. In Ephesians 6: 12-18, 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. 13 Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. 14 So stand firm and hold your ground, having [b]tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), 15 and having [c]strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. 16 Above all, lift up the [protective] [d]shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all [e] God’s people
In the above scriptures, it is telling us that again; we do not fight in the physical; our fight is in the spiritual realm. Also, Ephesians 6 verses 13-17 lets us know to put on the whole armor of God. Why do we put on the full armor of God? According to verse 13, it says so that you will be able to resist and stand in the evil day. Verse 18 tells us to Pray but not just to pray general prayers but specific requests at ALL times and have perseverance.
Finally, as I finish writing this letter, I want you to join me as I pray for our nation, and it is my prayer that we have the perseverance to keep praying with all requests and petitions.
Father God, we honor you, and we love you. You are a great and mighty God. We could never thank you enough. God, for the sins of the world and the sins of our very own lives, we repent and say that we are sorry, and we are choosing as an act of will to change our minds. Father, forgive us and forgive our nations. Father, it is written in your word that we have not because we ask not so God, I am asking you to deliver us from this evil Spirit of prejudice and injustice. Father, we reject the Spirit of discrimination and injustice. Father, it is written in your word that you love Justice. God declare your Justice for your people. It also is written in your word that vengeance is mine says the Lord. So, God, we declare your vengeance on the Spirit of prejudice and injustice and every spiritual Haman. God avenge your people. It is written in your word, according to Luke 10:19 Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power that the enemy possesses and nothing shall in any way harm you. God, we are decreeing and declaring Luke 10:19 over our lives and Luke 10:20, which says Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven. Father God, we thank you that our names are written in heaven. God allow your people to rewrite the laws just as you did for Esther and Mordecai that would be beneficial for you people. I believe we have received what we have prayed from the moment we begin this prayer, so Father, thank you for answering our prayer and delivering us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
