A Letter to a Father about walking in your Authority

The first thing you must know is the authority of a person, and their gift is in correlation with each other. As a Father, you must know how to walk in the authority that God has given you. Also, the reason you must know this key is that God said for us to have dominion over the earth and to occupy and subdue.

The first thing you must know is your gift. What is that “thing” that you do naturally? You know that thing that you don’t have to work hard to do, you do it. In life, there are so many pressuring things around that we don’t take a moment to see ourselves, and that is the key to finding your gift. The pressures of I need to make more money; I need to finish school or attend school. I need to get married or have children by a certain age. The pressures of life that we see on the outside. We allow the outside things to influence our emotions, decisions, and beliefs on the inside, and that shouldn’t be the case. One of the most effective ways to discover your gift is to look inside of yourself. I know you may be thinking, why would I do that? The answer is because of what is written in the book of Corinthians, and it reads:

No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. (1 Corinthians 2:7-10 NIV)

The things that I am about to share with you are keys to grant you the much-needed access to operate in your God-given authority. In the previous verses that I shared, you must know that there is a pearl of hidden wisdom in God that is the answer to your authority. I know you are asking why it is hidden? Why isn’t it in plain sight. First, God knows why he created you and what he created you to do. There is a destiny for you that was written by God, but you must seek God for the truth.

Another thing you must understand is this simple rule, and that is YOU MUST ask God what my purpose is? What is my gift? Will you show me my gift? God help me see my gift and help me see it as you are exposing it to me. I know that these questions are simple, but when was the last time you asked God these questions? There is another key, and it is after you have asked these questions expect the answer from God and intentionally incline your ear, heart, and mind to receive a response in whatever form God chooses to give you the answer. Why must you seek God for the truth because ears have not heard, and eyes have not seen the thing God has prepared for you. This key is vital because the moment you discover your gift, you will know the authority that you are called to walk in.  I know you may be reading this and saying that’s it. The answer is yes, REALLY, that’s it. In the bible, it is written: “My people perish for lack of knowledge.” Notice it reads MY people, not their people or other people it says, MY people. You must know what to ask.

God only tells you what you want to know. If you read the bible, Jesus spoke in parables to the masses, but in private Jesus spoke clearly to his disciples. The reason is that a parable is a story with a truth hidden inside of it, and to understand the parable, you must seek to find the truth. Three scriptures came to mind when I grasped this revelation of a parable, and the scriptures are:

You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. (James 4:2)

The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:” ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’ (Matthew 13:10-15)

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33)

Did you notice that when seeking the Kingdom of God it just says seek ye first it didn’t say find ye first, seek it and guess what will happen? Everything will start coming to you. The reason all the things will come to you is that as you begin to seek God the truth will be revealed, and you will know what to ask and will be guided through the process of having dominion on earth in accordance to your God-given authority.

Finally, there is this one scripture that I never fully understood until now. The revelation came to me when I ask God to show me my gift, show me how to have dominion and authority. The verse I am referring to is in the book of Romans, and it reads:

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. (Romans 12:3)

In times past I would read this verse and say okay God I know I must humble myself and not be full of pride and yes that is what we all must do, but no this scripture is telling us something else. The verse in Romans is saying do not think of yourself outside of the gift that God has given you or don’t get caught up in something that God didn’t create you for which would be you thinking more highly than you ought. Paul was saying stay in your lane don’t get involved in something simply because you feel you would like to do it. We should think of ourselves, under the authority that God has given us.

I must let you in on this little secret. Everything about you, your tone of voice, your hair, your eyes, your skin color, the way you dress, your personality, your laughter, your cry, etc. will all be used for your gift and your authority that God created just for you.

Father God in the name of Jesus. You are worthy of all the praise and honor and glory. Father, there is none like you in all the earth you are matchless. Father, I ask that you give everyone who reads this letter the desire to know why you created them. God expose our gift, show us how to walk in the authority that you have given us. Teach us to incline our ear to you and your word. Father, help us to know the truth and see the truth as it is revealed to us. Father give us a heart of flesh, give us a mind to receive what you are speaking. God give us your wisdom in every area of our lives. Open our ears to hear and hearts to understand and know. Father, we love you, and thank you for hearing our prayer. In Jesus name. Amen.
