A Letter to a Father about God’s Original Intent

I know that some have heard about the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. For those who are unfamiliar with the story of Adam and Eve, you can find the story in Genesis chapter 2 starting from verse 4 all the way to the fall in chapter 3. First, allow me to say this when you read the story of Adam and Eve there is so much revelation about God until it’s unbelievable. For example, why is it that after the fall (Adam and Eve eating of the tree that God forbade them to eat from) did God make clothing for their bodies? The bible never said Adam and Eve clothed themselves it explicitly states the Lord God clothed them. “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” (Genesis 3:21). The point I want you to see is that even though they disobeyed God, there was still a purpose for their very life God didn’t dispose of them he clothed them. God showed mercy and grace towards them. I want you to soak that in and know that God’s grace is sufficient for your very life. Now as we journey on in this letter, I would like to present you with these questions. Why didn’t God want them to eat of the tree of good and evil? Why didn’t they eat from the tree of life?
God didn’t want them to eat of the tree of good and evil because number one Adam and Eve were already created in his image and number two there was something way better than the knowledge of good and evil, and it was the tree of life. What is this tree of life? The tree of life was a constant fellowship with God. God didn’t want Adam and Eve to know good and evil he wanted Adam and Eve to know him.
God’s Original Intent was for you to know him in all his fullness. God wants you to know his Kingdom and access every door inside of the kingdom that he has prepared for us. God wants Earth to resemble his Kingdom in Heaven. When we pray “Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Why do you think you pray that? Why do you think Jesus told the disciples to pray in this manner? Has it ever occurred to you that this is what God wants? For example when your mom or dad sends you to the store, and they tell you I would like for you to go pick up some self-rising flour and you say okay. When you return you bring back some all-purpose flour, not the self-rising flour. Your mom or dad will likely tell you that is the wrong flour go back and get the one I said. You see that’s what we have been doing bringing back the wrong flour. I also would like for you to see that when you bring the wrong thing, your mom or dad probably won’t reprimand you they will tell you to go back and get the right one. Grace. Grace is what God gives us daily to go back and get the right thing.
I know things may be rough at times, and you may not make the best decisions, but I am telling you that if you would turn to God in ALL that you do whether good or bad. God will show himself strong in your life. God wants you to know him in every way.
In the book of John chapter 15 verses 1-17, it refers to Jesus being the vine, God being the gardener and we are the branches.
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit-fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.
First, let me stop for a moment and say God is good! In John chapter 15 Jesus is telling us to stay connected to him this is what God always wanted. When you stay connected to Jesus, there are so many benefits. You will not just have joy, but your joy will be complete. In the book of John chapter 15, it also says that the fruit that you bear will be plenty and will last when you stay connected to the vine. There are two powerful things in all of this. Number one it says whatever you ask in the name of Jesus God will give it to you. Number two it says for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. Notice it says I have made known. This particular verse lets me know that because I have chosen to abide in the vine and the vine in me I know the will of God. The answer is inside of me, and once I have been pruned and shaped it will pour out into my soul (mind, will, and emotions) and bear much fruit.
The questions I have for you is, are you connected to the vine? Will you be a branch? Notice it never says that you are the fruit. When you read the book of John chapter 15, it says we are the branches that will bear fruit so don’t get so caught up on the fruit that you bear or the people who are only around for the fruit. You are to love, and you are to stay connected to the vine so that you fulfill Gods Original Intent for your life.
