A Letter to a Father about Success

Success is a natural desire in all of humanity. Things or the consumption thereof don’t measure success. Value measures success. The fulfillment of your purpose in life is a success. In other words, are you fulfilling God’s original intent for your life, which is the purpose? Also, I am telling you that to be truly successful in life; it is imperative that you become someone of value.
Successful people don’t seek to be successful they become someone of value. I know you may be wondering how I become someone of value. The answer to the question of how do I become someone of value is by specialization. I know you that are reading this have heard the statement “Jack of all trades master of none.” Well I’m going to let you in on a little secret the statement doesn’t stop there the complete statement is really “ A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
Successful people are often a master of one thing, and this is not implying that successful people are not good at other things. You have to become a master of one; you have to specialize in it and do it well.
For example, when you go to the doctor for a routine physical or checkup and your doctor says we have found something wrong, but it is not my area of expertise, so I am going to refer you to a SPECIALIST. What I want you to see is that first, the doctor is referring you to another doctor who specializes in that particular area and second the payment to see a specialist is always a little more than you would typically pay for a routine doctor visit. It is vital that you understand the value of specialization.
I want you to pay attention to what I am about to say. Jesus was a carpenter, but his purpose was the redeemer. What I want you to understand is that it wasn’t his occupation that made him valuable but his gift of redeeming, that made him valuable. Jesus impacted so many lives in such short time when he was fulfilling his purpose in life. Always remember successful people influence and impact others but never impose.
The final thing that I wish above of all that you must understand and it is found in the book of Jeremiah chapter 29 verse 11, and it reads. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has a plan for success that is cut and tailored just for you. There is this gift locked on the inside of your body that you must discover so that you can master it and lead in that particular area of gifting. It is my prayer that you become the man God originally intended you to be, the man God purposed for such a time as this.
