A Letter to a Vulnerable Father

I know it’s hard and I know that it’s scary. I know that you thought you knew love until you experience real love. Yes, real love the type of love that is expressed in the book of 1 Corinthians 13:4-10 (NIV) “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy; it does not boast, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love NEVER fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.” The love of God is all those things and yes you can have and achieve this type of love but only through God. I know how it completely blows your mind that this kind of love makes you surrender your definition of love or anything that you believed was love. This love is yielding your heart to God and giving him your complete yes in every aspect of your life. Yes, this is forgiveness at its best. Choosing to love others unconditionally even when you don’t understand. This love is complete exposure of your true self. This love is total trust in God. I know you are afraid, but it’s okay to walk with God because what I didn’t tell you is this love has the power to heal you.
